| THE AREA |
The idyllic country village of Bamburgh, previously capital of the kingdom of Northumbria, is set in one of the most breathtakingly picturesque coastal regions the country has to offer, with a spectacular castle standing 150 ft above the sea.
The village a has a number of good restaurants and pubs including the Castle (known to the locals as The Middle) and The Lord Crewe Arms and The Victoria. There is also a good range of village shops including Carters Butcher Shop, the home of the famous ‘Bamburgh Banger’ a newsagent and general store and green grocers. |
| On the village green, St Aidans church stands opposite a museum containing mementos of the heroine Grace Darling. The sandy horse-shoe shaped beach stretches for miles, overlooked by Bamburgh Castle. This beach is part of the heritage coastline and designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. |
